About Me

In 2004, I graduated with a masters degree in finance. I wore a size 2 dress. Sadly, I considered wearing a size 2 my greatest accomplishment not my masters degree. A year later I moved back to middle Tennessee to run the family health food stores and I quickly lost control of my weight. In 2008, my weight peaked at 213 lbs. I had gained 90 lbs in three years.

Strangely enough, I was inspired by Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and decided I was going to work hard to get my weight down. I stopped trying to lose 70 lbs all at once and took things 10 pounds at a time. It took almost five years but I finally reached my goal weight of 145 lbs in July 2013. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to keep the weight off. I constantly work on accepting myself whatever size I am but I want to fit into my cute clothes!

Along the way I have obtained a degree in nutrition and become a fitness professional. I started this blog in 2011 as a way to document my struggles and successes. Health is a lifelong pursuit and maintaining weight loss is just as hard as losing, if not harder. I blog to keep myself accountable and to hopefully inspire others.
